UNE Smart Region Incubator Event: Food Waste – responding to the challenge

Are you passionate about minimizing food waste and protecting our environment for future generations through sustainable business practices? Yes? Then join us in responding to the challenge.

Food waste represents more than just a waste of nutrition and resources. It is a dreadful comment on social justice in a world still struggling to end hunger. Ending food waste is a challenge worth responding to.

At the local, national and international level there are actions by firms, governments and social organisations underway to reduce or end food waste. However, food waste has many causes and is itself indicative of broader issues of waste accumulation and management in cities, the regions and the environment.

Centre for Agribusiness Director, Professor Derek Baker, visiting Brazilian scholar, Dr Aldara Cesar and local business Rag & Trader owner, Becky Smouha together through a panel discussion will offer some insight to the problem and some possible solutions moving forward.
