Letter to Member; COVID-19. Exports And Reopening Grants (17 June 2020)

June 17, 2020

Dear Member / Friend,

EXPORTS
The NSW Government announced today a $12.8 million package in support of programs to create jobs and support the regions. The package is intended to reinvigorate export industries affected by COVID-19 and provides for more local trade advisors, an increased presence in key Asian markets, a new e-commerce program to develop alternative channels to markets and a $10,000 grant scheme.

The $10,000 Exporter Assistance Grant assists exporting farmers and wineries, impacted by reduced orders and disrupted freight channels as a result of COVID-19. The package has been put forward as a means to unlock regions and to boost international trade from paddock to port to plate.

The Treasurer advised that exports accounted for approximately 14% of the State economy and that it was crucial that NSW defends it’s international trading position and maintains contact with key markets

REOPENING GRANTS
The NSW Government also announced today that from 1 July businesses and not-for-profits that have been severely impacted by COVID-19 will be able to apply for a grant of up to $3,000 to assist with the costs of safely relaunching their operations, reopen and be revitalised. This will help kickstart business operations and help them move to the post COVID “normal.” The grants can be used for expenses such as marketing and advertising expenses, make fit out changes and train staff to work safely under current health restrictions.

The Grant can only be used for expenses from 1 July and where no other Government support is available. More information will be available on the Service NSW website.

Stay safe and stay distant.

Kind Regards,

 Anthony
