Nominations are now open for the NSW State Election

Nominations are now open for candidates who wish to contest the NSW State election being held on Saturday, 23 March 2019.

Nominations can be lodged from 8am on Monday, 25 February 2019. Nominations close at 12 noon on Wednesday, 6 March 2019.

Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council nominations may be lodged:

  • online at elections.nsw.gov.au
  • in person at the NSW Electoral Commission, Level 25, 201 Kent St, SYDNEY NSW 2000
  • by post to the NSW Electoral Commission, GPO Box 832, SYDNEY NSW 2001
  • in person at the election manager’s office for the Legislative Assembly district being contested.  Address details of each election manager’s office are available from the website or by calling the candidate helpdesk on 1300 088 942. Legislative Council nomination forms and deposits cannot be lodged at an election manager’s office.
  • by email to nominations@elections.nsw.gov.au, however nomination deposits cannot be paid by email
  • by fax on (02) 9290 5488, however nomination deposits cannot be paid by fax.

Access to the Nominations Online Management System and hard copy forms are available from elections.nsw.gov.au or by calling the candidate helpdesk on 1300 088 942.

Information about nominations is available in the Handbook for Parties, Groups, Candidates and Scrutineers available on our website. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

 

Ballot paper draw

 

At 10am on Thursday, 7 March 2019, the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council ballot paper draws will be held to determine the position of candidates on the ballot paper.

Legislative Assembly draws will take place at election managers’ offices for each district.

The draw to determine the position of candidates for the Legislative Council will take place at the Portside Centre Level 6 (entry level), 207 Kent Street Sydney.

The media, candidates and the public are invited to attend ballot paper draws.

Nominations are confidential until the conduct of the ballot paper draws, after which time candidate details will be published in ballot paper order at elections.nsw.gov.au
